I used Keune color for her deep red base and Pravana for her vibrant red ends. To achieve this color, I had to bleach her ends for the bright red balayage effect. However, as long as your client is willing to do some at-home treatments to maintain the health of the ends, it’s worth it! Her base color is also a deep red.

Her face shape is more oval/diamond. Short haircuts look fantastic on her to prevent her face from appearing even longer with long hair. Her hair is naturally straight with a slight wave, making it easy for her to style it straight or curled. Since her hair is short, her curls hold really well with minimal or no hairspray.

She follows a good hair care routine at home using Keune styling products: 2 phase moisturizing spray (on damp hair after shower and before blow-drying) and shine serum (before or after blow-drying). She also applies a Keune deep conditioning treatment once a week at home: Keune Care Line Vital Nutrition. For shampoo and conditioner, she uses Keune Care Line Vital Nutrition. We didn’t have a specific plan for this color, so it’s a bit challenging to describe. If I had to compare it, I would say it’s like Fruit Stripe Gum on steroids.

If you’re thinking of going for a colorful look, my advice would be to keep in mind the upkeep and maintenance required. Creating a color like this can take anywhere from three to seven hours, depending on your hair length and how light we can get it. To achieve colors like these, it’s crucial to lighten the hair to a pale white-yellow base without causing damage.

It’s important to note that Special Effects direct dyes are not permanent. They are semi-permanent and only sit on top of the hair cuticle, staining it. This means the color will last for about three to six weeks. Maintaining these colors is not the easiest task. To maximize longevity, wash your hair in cold water, limit washing to one or two times a week, and use sulfate-free shampoo and glycerin-free conditioner. Additionally, it’s best to avoid chlorinated pools and minimize heat styling.

Anyone can rock a color like this, but what’s most important is finding a skilled hairstylist with experience in handling vibrant colors. Never expect to have this done last minute.
